Commercial window tinting for Sunshine Coast offices, shops and clinics, fitted by the owner. The film goes on the glass you already have, takes the glare off screens and some load off the air conditioning, and the work is booked around your business hours.

I'm Thom Caruth, the owner of Glaze Window Tinting on the Sunshine Coast. I have over 20 years experience in window tinting, and the person who measures your windows is the person who fits the film.
Glaze is based in Nirimba and works on flat glass only. I do offices, shopfronts, clinics and schools across the Sunshine Coast, as well as homes. If it's your house you want done, residential window tinting has its own page.
Most office calls I get are about one of three things: glare on screens, desks that are too hot by lunchtime, or a meeting room the whole street can see into. Window film fixes all three without replacing a single pane.
The film is a thin polyester layer fitted to the inside of your existing glass. It reflects or absorbs part of the sun's energy before it reaches the room, filters out UV and softens the glare. You keep the view and most of the daylight. Clear and light films barely change how the building looks from outside. Darker and reflective films do.

Big windows and a low sun turn monitors into mirrors. The usual fix is to drop the blinds and switch the lights on, which wastes the daylight you're paying rent for. A glare control film takes the harsh edge off, so screens stay readable with the blinds up. A light to medium film usually suits offices, because a dark tint feels gloomy on a cloudy day.
West and north-facing windows cop the worst of the afternoon sun. A solar control film can reject up to 80% of the solar heat, and lighter films reject less. Your quote gives the figures for the film I recommend. It evens out the temperature across the floor. The energy savings depend on your building and the local climate, and the energy efficient film page goes into more detail.
The same films block up to 99% of UV, the biggest single cause of fading in carpet, timber, furniture and stock near a front window. There's more on UV protection film if fading is the problem.

Not every pane in a business should be clear. Here's what I fit where privacy or safety matters more than the view.
Frosted film on partitions and glass doors gives a meeting room privacy without closing it in, because the light still comes through. It can cover the whole panel, run as a band at seated eye level, or be cut around your logo.

One-way or reflective film gives daytime privacy on outside glass. Your team can see out, but it's hard to see in during the day. It only works when it's brighter outside than inside, so at night, with the lights on inside, people can see in. For privacy day and night, frosted film is the answer. The privacy film page compares the options.

Security window film is a thicker film that helps hold broken glass together so it doesn't shower into the room. It slows a break-in down and helps with storm debris and accidents around large panes, but it doesn't make glass unbreakable. Shopfronts that get vandalised can add anti-graffiti film on the outside.
I fit film from 3M, SunTek, UltraGard, LLumar, Madico, Solar Gard and ASWF, and commercial film carries a 10-year manufacturer-backed warranty. What I won't fit is cheap dyed film, the kind that fades, goes purple and bubbles within a few summers. Where glass can't take film on the inside, there's exterior window film.
Commercial jobs are priced by the square metre, fitted. As a guide, most commercial film comes in between $60 and $120 per square metre, and I give you the exact figure after a free measure. What moves the price:
I measure on site and give you a fixed price in writing, with the brand and product named for each area, so you can compare installers properly. Here are six things to get in writing from any installer.

I quote, measure and fit every job myself. No sales rep and no subcontractors.

It's not just offices. I also fit film for Sunshine Coast shops, cafes, clinics and schools, from Caloundra to Noosaville.
Shopfronts and showrooms. Heat and glare off big north and west-facing windows, and less fading on stock and signage.
Cafes and restaurants. Window seats that stay comfortable through the afternoon, fitted before opening or after close.
Clinics and consulting rooms. Frosted film for privacy in treatment rooms and reception, and solar film for the waiting area.
Schools. Classrooms, halls and admin blocks. See school window tinting.

Most commercial film comes in between $60 and $120 per square metre, fitted. The total depends on the glass, the film and the access. I measure on site in any of the Sunshine Coast areas I cover and give you a fixed price in writing before any work starts.
Not with the right film. Many solar and ceramic films are close to clear, so they cut heat while the room stays bright. If glare is the main problem you need a bit more tint, and I'll show you the difference with samples on your own glass.
It can lower the cooling load through a Queensland summer, because less heat gets in, especially through west and north-facing windows. The saving depends on the building and how the air conditioning is run, so I don't put a dollar figure on it.
Very little. I'm flexible with hours and days, so I can start early, finish late or work when the office is quiet. Each area only needs to be empty while I'm working in it.
Good film fitted on the inside lasts many years, and commercial film comes with a 10-year manufacturer-backed warranty.
It can, if a film that absorbs a lot of heat goes on a pane that can't handle it. The pane heats unevenly and can crack from the edge, and double-glazed and laminated glass can only take certain films. I check the glass type, which way it faces and the film maker's glass chart before I recommend anything.
Not usually. Some metallised films can weaken mobile signal a little. Ceramic and other non-metal films don't, so I use those where reception matters.
Yes. Old, bubbling or purple tint is stripped and the glass is cleaned before the new film goes on. I allow for it in the written quote.
